Toro Loco

May 2024

This was a game made for my Design and Technology final in Parsons. This project was create with two creative design students, Chala Chalasani and Natalia Cortina. They created the Fabrication and Technologies for “Toro Loco”.

Concept:

  • A bull road rage game
  • The user is a bull that accidentally got let loose
  • The bull has pent up rage that can be used to gain points by attacking, speeding, and crashing.

Process in Game Design:

  • Started with animations of the bull and the scenery
  • Moved to coding the score system and adding some small effects
  • Finished with camera work, fixing bugs and finalizing the sound

Lessons Learned:

  • I learned how to work with animations in 3D a little more and splitting one long animation into smaller ones
  • Adding custom Particle systems
  • Figuring out distance in each object
  • Working more with cinemachine

Future Iterations:

  • If I had more time I would work on the story and scenery more
  • Also fix the score system and cameras
  • Add more feedback, slowing down, camera angles or camera shakes

Fabrication and Technology Side:

This game was not as well put together as I would have liked it to be. I struggled to find time on this game. The level design was not interesting, and I wish I put more time into this game. I’ve made more interesting games in 3 weeks than this game in 1.5 months. I got feedback that the backstory of the game didn’t make as much sense and the bull asset I used was misleading since it had a very dark look to it.

I do feel like I succeeded with the small details and the player feedback. With sound, particle systems and URP effects so players can feel satisfied with sprinting and attacking.

Sound and music done by me.

Time to Complete: 1.5 months
