The Last Coral

March, 2025

This game was made in a game jam with Parsons and Pace students from the city. It was a 2 day game jam made to be put on an arcade machine built by Pace students. As a group we selected roles and a topic that was educational.

We chose Ocean Acidification.

Putting the game onto an Arcade Machine using controller input

In our team of 4, I was in charge of programming with another coder on the team, however that coder never came b
ack after the first day and I never got his code, so I picked up the slack and worked on most of the coding along with one other coder on my team who wasn’t supposed to code. Overall I am very proud of this project because we made a complex 2D game with little time and less people on our team than everyone else. I made up for all the slack we didn’t have by coding and creating art.

Learning

In the game itself we tested with some interesting mechanics like balancing pH levels in the ocean, lowing alphas in the sprite renderers, sharing oxygen with between two players, adding old unity input and more. Though we had some rouch patches I would say it was very successful in the time we had.

Time to Complete: 2 days
