Mapping Rest
February 2025
This game is for a studio class called “Mapping Rest” where I had to make a game about “mapping rest”.
I made a walking simulator, that brought you to different scenes and environments, depending on where the player pressed K (or slept). When you get into the world you can press K to wake up. Post processing was very important with this project to give the player strong emotional connections with the colors and the lighting. I added some motion blur also to give the game a little more “juice”. However depending on the environment you’re in the player experience in turns of walking and running are different. With some scenes making the player feel small and insignificant. And some making the player feel much bigger and important.
Play Experience
The music is an important factor, I produced 5 songs (only 4 are in the game itself though) to add more aesthetic to the scenes as well as bringing headphones to the play-test in class, so that players can get the full experience.
Take aways
Overall I have enjoyed working on games lately without much purpose, It really emphasizes what keeps a player interested without a goal in mind.
